Note: The following information was originally compiled by retired DFD Captain Burt Matheny and was passed on in 2008 in an effort to document DFD history. It is a work in progress, as research on historical data can be difficult to obtain due to incomplete, dated records. A fire department can have all the latest in equipment and technology but without it’s personnel it cannot function. With dedicated, knowledgeable and experienced members a fire department can do much to save lives, prevent suffering and protect property.
The records for Department Personnel have been poor at best. We are continuing to update these records as we find new information. A question mark (?) next to any item means that this information has not been verified. We have listed all persons by the date of their departure from the department. After their name we have indicated when they joined the department and information on where they went or what happened to them.
Many of these people served with distinction and dedication.
Present Administrative Staff
Chief Corey Landry - Hired as Division Chief of Operations 2007, promoted to replace Chief O'Leary in 2009, was originally a firefighter for DFD in 1987, re-hired in 2007 from North Hampton Fire.
Assistant Chief Jason Cleary - Hired as Division Chief of Safety and Fire Prevention in 2007. Promoted to Assistant Chief in 2009 after Division Chief positions were restructrued within department by Chief Landry. Was Lt. for Portsmouth FD.
Deputy Chief Steve McCusker - Hired to Dep Chief of Prevention in 2009 from private sector after break from service. 17 years of experience, 9 years in prevention at Dover Fire.
Capt. Thomas P. Stano – hired 1994 as Firefighter, appointed to Captain in 1999 to fill the full time training officer position which was created in 1999. Replaced Capt. Richardson as shift officer in 2005
Capt. Paul R. Marcoux – hired 1989, promoted to Captain in 2008 to replace retired Captain Burt Matheny

2008 - James S. Lapolla – hired 1988, retired from department, took retirement job at UNH Police as Homeland Security Agent.
2008 - Michael Hoffman – hired 1986 as Firefighter, appointed Deputy Chief of Prevention. Appointed Captain in 1992 to replace Captain Rines, retired from department
2008 - Hubert O. Matheny, Jr. – hired 1979 as a Firefighter, was a Firefighter in the USAF. Appointed Lieutenant in 1986 to replace Captain Steve Allen, title change to Captain in 1987, retired from department.
2008 - Richard Miller – hired 1987 as a Captain to replace Captain Bassett. Worked at Seabrook Power Plant and was a firefighter in Merrimack before that, retired from department
2007- Michael Blake – Came from Derry FD, hired 1999 as Assistant Chief. Filled the opening made by the promotion of Ron O’Keefe to Chief. Served as interim Fire Chief 2007, retired later that year, is currently Fire Chief in neighboring town of Lee, NH
2007 - Mark W. Tetreult – hired 1996, as firefighter/inspector appointed Fire Marshal in 2000. Was fire inspector in Hooksett FD before coming here, took job in Londonderry
2007 - Derek Doucette - Permanent Firefighter hired 2007, left FD to continue NASCAR career.
2007 - Sarah Venable – Call Firefighter appointed 1998, left to pursue nursing career at local hospital
