26 Sept Thanks to the installation of fire sprinklers in the University of New Hampshire's Philbrook Dining Hall, a fire in a storage room resulted only in minimal water and smoke damage on Sept 24th. At 0239 hrs, members responded from the College Rd fire station to a report of alarm and water flow. While enroute University Police updated FD, reporting a heavy smoke condition at the loading dock of the hall. The crew, running from heavy call volume throughout the shift caught their third job in less than 12 hours and quickly knocked down the fire located in a storage area just a short line stretch inside the door. During the investigation of the cause, DFD's Prevention Bureau was aided by UNH PD's knowledge of survailence video of the room. Video revealed a spontaneous ingnition of a stack of kitchen linens, possibly due to oils that did not launder completley out the fabric.
