25 September Members responded to Channel 11, located at 268 Mast Road on Wednesday, September 23rd for an alarm activation a few hours after an early evening transformer explosion knocked out power to a wide area in the surrounding Durham / UNH community. On arrival, Engines 1 and 2 discovered a light smoke condition on the second floor, pulled lines, requested station coverage and struck a 1st alarm. While the smoke was light and disipated during investigation, members found the building to be running on generator power, which was installed in the interior of the building. Laddering the roof and venting the shaft leading to the generator exhaust on the roof revealed the small fire to be in the insulation and wooden structure improperly installed around the pipe. The fire was quickly controlled with 1st alarm companies, no injuries were reported.
