Fire Fighters Run to Lee, Historic Home Gutted in 3 Alarm Fire

Governor Lynch Declares State of Emergency, Pays Visit to Durham Fire and Briefed on Storm Damage

Governor John Lynch declared a state of emergency on Friday after receiving reports that over 300,000 businesses and residents in NH lost power due to massive wind storm that swept through area.   It is expected that some isolated residents would be without power for up to a week. The Governor met with town officials on Monday and toured the area to assess the damage. The Durham Fire Department regretfully announces the death of one of our fire department family.

Former Fire Chief Jim Eddy died this morning in Dover.  Funeral arrangements are forthcoming.  The Durham Fire Department as well as the entire Fire Service has lost a valuable and respected member.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Diane and their family   Fosters Daily Democrat Obituary
